John Dady and Leona Wagner Dady lived at 107 Jamesville Rd. Rd. by 1932. Mr. Dady was born in Pompey, and in 1919 he moved to Woodchuck Hill Road, near Lyndon, and was a farmer and the owner of a construction firm. At one point, Mr. Dady lived in Syracuse and was a barber. The new Moses DeWitt school in DeWitt was built in 1931, and the following year, Mr. Dady bought the former school building at 107 Jamesville Rd., known as the Orville Schoolhouse. He converted it to an apartment house and barber shop, where Mr. and Mrs. Dady lived and where Mr. Dady plied his trade. Later he retired and built the first house on Old Quarry Road, in Lyndon. The couple operated the Quarry Nursery at that site until Mrs. Dady's death on 10-23-1960. Mr. Dady was a founder of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department. He also had the distinction of being the oldest member of the DVFD. Mr. Dady was a founder of the Thomas Jeffferson Democratic club, and was the first member of the DeWitt Businessmen's Association. Mrs. Dady's mother, Sarah J. Wagner, who was born in 1861, lived with the family by 1920. Mr. Dady died 7-26-1983, at age 93. They had: Robert C. Dady, who was born in Pompey on 12-27-1913, wed Anna Marie Dady, lived on Maple Dr. in Lyndon and at 305 Revere Rd., retired in 1971 after 34 years with New Process Gear as a mechanic and supervisor, and died 9-19-2001, and Norene E. Dady, who was born in 1918.
Albert Berthaln Dall and Elizabeth Jones Dall lived at 11 Wexford Rd. in the mid 1950's. He was born 11-29-1925, and is believed to have been a native of NJ. The couple lived on Fordham Rd. in DeWitt before moving to DeWitt Acres. He worked as an electrical engineer and she was a secretary for the Lincoln Bank. Mr. Dall died on 11-27-1980, in Newport Beach, CA. Mrs. Dall was born 1-18-1929, and died 9-26-1988. They had a daughter born in August, 1955.
Frederick H. Daniels and Ruth Flannary Daniels lived at 214 Pelham Rd. by 1943. Mr. Daniels was a 1929 graduate of Syracuse University and an assistant manager for the Metropolitan Insurance Co. Mrs. Daniels graduated from the University in 1926 with a nursing certificate. Mr. Daniels died on 8-18-1979. They had: David Daniels, and Sally Daniels.
Olin R. Daniels and Alberta Renner Daniels lived at 101 Ambergate Rd. during the early 1950's, before moving to Fairmount, NY in March, 1955. He was a graduate of Colgate University. Mrs. Daniels was a 1917 graduate of Syracuse University and worked as a teacher until her death on 6-14-1951. Mr. Daniels worked as a maintenance dept. clerk for the Niagara-Mohawk Power Corp. He had taken a leave of absence due to poor health at the time of his death in Albuquerque on 9-24-1953. They had a daughter, Ruth Daniels, who wed Michael Scanlon in 1955, and a son, Donald R. Daniels.
Roman DaRin and Flora DaRin lived at 307 Jamesville Rd. by 1952. Mr. DaRin was born about 1888 in Bullono, Italy, and came to America in 1917. He worked as a mechanic and foreman at the Solvay Process Quarry in Jamesville. Mrs. DaRin was also a native of Bullono. She was born about 1893, and immigrated to the US and married in 1919. Mr. DaRin died 1-13-1964. They had: Elda DaRin, who was born about 1920, wed Eugene Carl Ernst on 7-19-1952, and lived in Minoa, Raymond J. DaRin, who wed Shirley Fillingham on 9-10-1955, served in the Coast Guard, and lived in DeWitt, and Emilio DaRin, who was born about 1923, and lived in East Syracuse, and Arthur F. DaRin, who was born in 1925, wed Gladys Keller about 1948, and lives in East Syracuse.
Charles E. Darrow and Leda Kingsley Darrow lived on Genesee St. by 1943. Mr. Darrow was born in Scriba, NY, on 6-15-1903. He worked for the Dwyer, Lumms Co. and then he and Mrs. Darrow operated the Lyndon Fruitamatic Co. for more than 20 years. They retired to Holiday, FL, and Mr. Darrow died there on 7-4-1976. Mrs. Darrow, a native of Black River, NY, was born 1-4-1916, and died on 6-26-1989, in Holiday. They had: Richard Darrow, who wed Beatrice Darrow, and lived in Manlius, Kenneth Darrow, who was born about 1936, wed Elizabeth Wilcox Trost about 1960, was a member of the DeWitt Fire Dept., worked for Agway, and also lived in Manlius, and Catherine Darrow, who married Weston Scriba, and lived in Constantia, NY.
William A. Dart, Jr., and Helen Kormanyos Dart lived at 12 Drovers Lane. Mr. Dart was a native of St. Lawrence County in northern NY. He was born in 1926, and was a civil engineer. They came to DeWitt Acres in the mid 1950's from Lillian Ave., in Syracuse, and lived in Canton, NY, by 1967. They had two sons, one born in May, 1954, and another born in February, 1958. It is thought that Mr. Dart lives now in Canton, NY.
Carrie A. Davies lived at 4252 Genesee St. by 1943, having lived earlier at 241 Roosevelt Ave. in Syracuse. She was the widow of Evan J. Davies, who was born in Wales about 1863, and worked as a machinist. Mrs. Davies was also born about 1863, and the couple wed about 1898. She died on 5-18-1948, while residing in Syracuse.
Howard D. Davies and Melba DeLa Vergne Davies lived at 110 Warwick Rd., beginning about 1948. He attended Fenn College in Cleveland and joined the Warner & Swasey Co. in 1927 as an apprentice trainee. In 1948 he was assigned to the Syracuse area as a field engineer for the company. About 1951, the Davies' moved to Fayetteville-Manlius Rd. in Fayetteville. Mr. Davies died on 1-21-1963, at the age of 53. They had four daughters, Sandra L. Davies, a graduate of the State University Teachers College at Oneonta, who married Jon A. Sorensen in 1958, Jill Davies, Lynn Davies, and another daughter who married William Robey.
William H. Davis and Etta Davis lived at 198 Landsdowne Rd. by 1943. Mr. Davis was a CPA, and was the resident manager for the Hurdsman-Cranston firm. Herbert R. Davis, a salesman for the Easy Washer Co. lived at the same address and presumably was related to William and Etta Davis.
Lester E. Day and Avanelle S. Day lived at 314 Haddonfield Dr. until 1943. Mr. Day was a metallurgist and chemist for the Carrier Corp. from 1937 to 1943. The couple later moved to New Providence, NJ. Mrs. Day was a native of Rome, GA, and earned her MS in nutrition from Columbia University. She was a widely known cook book author, home economist, and lecturer on the culinary arts.
Robert S. Dean and Marilyn Reed Dean lived at 39 Wexford Rd. He was from Syracuse and was a graduate of St. Lawrence University. Mrs. Dean's sister, Johanna Reed Kirkgasser, also lived in DeWitt Acres. The Deans moved to Pompey about 1970. Mr. Dean died, at age 69, on 6-21-2005. The couple had two children: Jeff Dean, of Manhattan, and Barbara Dean, of Fabius.
William W. Dean and Rosemary Grimmelsman Dean lived at 210 Landsdowne Rd. by 1955. They later lived in Skaneateles and Marcellus. Mr. Dean was born 1-16-1913, and was an electrical engineer for General Electric. He later became the general manager of their Electronics Park facility. Mr. Dean was residing at 13 South St. in Marcellus at his death on 6-8-1987. Mrs. Dean, a native of Birmingham, MI, was born 4-22-1912, and died on 11-30-1997. Their children: Carol Dean Low, of Syracuse, Sally Dean Biddle, of Saranac Lake, William Dean, Jr., of Belmont, CA, Robert L. Dean, and Peter F. Dean, both of Marcellus, Thomas F. Dean, of Skaneateles, Susan Dean Abeles, who died in 1995, and John C. Dean, of Ithaca.
Charlotte DeGraw lived at 218 Haddonfield Rd. in 1940. She was born in NYC on 12-4-1923, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1945. Miss DeGraw is thought to have been the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. DeGraw, who later lived at 114 Academy Green in Syracuse. Miss DeGraw wed Edward "Ned" Cunningham, and they moved to FL in 1954. Mr. Cunningham died there in May, 1974, and Mrs. Cunningham resided in Lake Wales at her death on 1-23-2006. They had: Richard Cunningham, who wed Lori Cunningham, and lives in Lake Wales, and Lawrence Cunningham, who married Dew-Ann Cunningham, and lives in Ft. Myers, FL.
Frank Williams DeLano and Ruth DeLano lived at 108 Dewittshire Rd. by 1942. Mr. DeLano was born in Syracuse on 3-2-1895, and worked for the Alexander Jones firm before becoming an independent electrical contractor. Mrs. DeLano was born about 1903, and the couple wed about 1920. She worked for the Dey Brothers department store. Mr. DeLano was later married to Rose E. DeLano, who died on 10-3-1966, while they were living at 116 S. Collingwood Ave. in Syracuse. He died on 5-21-1979. Frank and Ruth DeLano had Frank DeLano, Jr., who was born about 1923, attended Syracuse University, and served in the Army.
E. Joseph Delmonico and Margaret Winters Delmonico lived at 170 Canterbury Rd. by 1951. Dr. Delmonico was born in Syracuse in 1905, and played varsity football before graduating from the Syracuse University College of Medicine in 1930. He interned at St. Joseph's Hospital and there met his future wife who graduated from St. Joseph's nursing school in 1929. The couple wed in Syracuse in 1934. The Delmonicos lived three years in Rochester, MN, where Mrs. Delmonico was a nurse and Dr. Delmonico served a residency at the Mayo Clinic in anesthesiology, before returning to the Syracuse area in 1940. They lived in Dewittshire about 15 years, and were among the first families to attend the newly opened Holy Cross Church. They later moved to Fayetteville. Mrs. Delmonico was a dog fancier and raised dachsunds. The couple took a two month trip around the world in 1968. Dr. Delmonico died on 1-18-1979, and Mrs. Delmonico died on 6-15-1991, at age 83. The couple had two daughters: Linda Delmonico Worth, who graduated from Syracuse University, and died in Manchester, NH on 12-30-2004, and Susan Delmonico Ross, who graduated from LeMoyne College in 1953, and resides in Camillus, NY.
Charles Harry Dempewolf and Ruth Ina Saltsman Dempewolf lived at 201 Orvilton Dr. by 1943. He was born about 1887, in Baltimore. Mr. Dempewolf was a drafting engineer with the Smith and Caffrey Co. He died 3-5-1963. Mrs. Dempewolf was born 10-1-1889, and worked for a time as a computer operator for the Crucible Steel Co. She was residing in SunCity, AZ, at her death in February, 1983. She had a daughter, Ruth Saltsman, who married Ralph Busch and lived at 202 Hunt Dr. in Fayetteville.
Charles T. Dempsey and Helen E. Dempsey lived at 108 York Rd., having purchased the home in 1936. Mr. Dempsey worked as office manager for the Sanford Fire Equipment Co., and retired in 1969. He had earlier been a real estate agent, and an employee of the Whelan Drug Co. Mr. Dempsey served as an instructor, and later, as deputy chief of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Dept. The couple resided in the Syracuse area for 40 years, before Mr. Dempsey's death on 9-4-1973. Mrs. Dempsey was born in Rochester and was a nurse. She served the Red Cross in both World Wars, and died on 3-15-1966.
Theodore C. Denise and Kathleen Cowles Denise lived at 104 Dunham Rd. by 1955. Dr. Denise was born 3-9-1919, in Whitewater, WI, and the couple wed in October, 1942. He served in World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-1946 with the Army Amphibian Engineers. Professor Denise was educated at the University of Michigan, where he received his Ph.D. degree in philosophy and where he played varsity football. He taught philosophy at Syracuse University from 1948 until he retired in 1984. Dr. Denise co-authored a popular textbook, "Great Traditions in Ethics", which is now in its 12th edition. The couple moved to Easthampton, MA, where Dr. Denise died on 11-15-2005. They had: Patricia Denise White, of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Theodore ``Todd'' Denise, Jr., who wed Susan Hankin, and owned Gray Fox Software in Charlottesville, VA, at his death in Seattle, WA, on 1-4-1987, at age 27.
Louis DeNucci and June DeNucci lived at 104 Winston Way by 1955. Mr. DeNucci was born 11-9-1910, He was a native of Brooklyn, but resided most of his life in CNY. Mr. DeNucci retired in 1975 after being associated with several local car dealerships and having been division manager for the Hudson Motor Car Co. and American Motors in the Syracuse area. Mr. DeNucci died on 6-19-1996. They had: Curtis L. DeNucci, who lives in DeWitt, and Stephen W. DeNucci, who lived in Syracuse.
Frank Derby and Margaret Derby lived on Canal Feeder Rd. by 1943. They were African-Americans and are believed to have been related to other African American families (Eaton, Wyncoup, Wynkoop, Battle, and Van Alstine or VanAlstyne) that lived on the Canal Feeder towpath in the 1930's. Mr. and Mrs. Derby were possibly from the Auburn area.
Charles P. DeRose and Catherine DeRose lived at 308 Landsdowne Dr. by 1953. Mr. DeRose was the branch manager of the Lee Tire Co. They had: Charles DeRose, Gary DeRose, and Douglas DeRose.
Theodore A. Derrenbacker and Gladys M. Derrenbacker lived at 302 Hampshire Dr. by 1955. Mr. Derrenbacker was a manager for the Prudential Insurance Co. He died 5-23-1962. Mrs. Derrenbacker was born on 7-16-1900, in Dansville, NY. She moved from CNY to Venice, FL, about 1983, and had married a Mr. Bates by her death on 7-1-1991. Theodore and Gladys Derrenbacker had: Natalie Ann Derrenbacker, who married Walter Swertfager, and lived in Venice, Robert Derrenbacker, who lived in Fayetteville, and James Derrenbacker, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1949, wed Priscilla Brewster, and lives in Sarasota, FL.
John Raymond Deschambault and Marie Yolande Deschambault lived at 51 Wexford Rd. They moved there from Lyndon about 1954. Mr. Deschambault was a draftsman for the architectural firm Sargent, Webster, Crenshaw and Folley. Mrs. Deschambault was the manager of the Knit-Nook store and later worked for the Lincoln Bank. They live now in Ocala, FL. Their children: Danielle Deschambault-Duffy, who is retired from the practice of law and lives in Chicago, and Francine Deschambault, who is believed to be a physician residing in Washington state.
Ephraim Moyer Detwiler and Luella Eva Lord Detwiler lived at 5 Pebble Hill, Rd., North, by 1951, after having lived in Buffalo. Mr. Detwiler was born on 10-19-1904, in Lansdale, PA. He played football and was captain of the lacrosse team at Lafayette College, where he earned a degree in 1927. While in college, Mr. Detwiler was a founding member of Alpha Phi Omega, the national service fraternity. He was the plant engineer for the Worthington Pump Co. Mrs. Detwiler was born 3-18-1903, and was a graduate of St. Lawrence University. Mr. Detwiler was residing in Buffalo at his death in June, 1967. They had: Sandra Lord Detwiler, who attended Swarthmore College.
Lloyd Thomas DeVore and Mary Louise McClure DeVore lived at 14 Paddock Dr. by 1953. Dr. DeVore graduated from Penn State in 1933. He taught there and at the University of Illinois. While living in DeWitt, Dr. DeVore was the manager of the research lab at the General Electric Co. The family moved in 1955 when Dr. DeVore became the head of the electronics division of the Stewart Warner Co. Later they moved to Santa Barbara, CA, and resided there at Dr. DeVore's death in 1965, and Mrs. DeVore's death in 1971. Dr. DeVore was awarded the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal for his engineering work at Wright Field during WWII. Their children: Robert DeVore, Thomas DeVore, and John Gerald DeVore.
Russell L. DeWaters and Elizabeth D. Babbles DeWaters lived at 47 Wexford Rd. They were natives of Elbridge and lived most of their lives there. Mr. DeWaters worked 18 years for American Airlines before becoming the postmaster of Elbridge. He held that office from 1969 to 1989. Mrs. DeWaters worked as a postal clerk for 24 years before her death on 1-7-1989. Mr. DeWaters died on 7-20-1994. They had: Russell Michael DeWaters, who lives in Lubbock TX, and Diane DeWaters Kelley, who graduated from Syracuse University, works as a postal carrier, and lives in Elbridge.
Daniel H. Deyoe lived at 11 Wexford Rd. by 1958. He was born 11-25-1908, and was a graduate of Cornell's medical school. Dr. Deyoe retired in 1972, following 15 years as medical director of the Crouse-Hinds Corp. Dr. Deyoe died in CNY on 7-14-2006, at age 97.
Albert B. Dickey and Ruth Martin Dickey lived at 228 Wellington Rd., purchasing the home in 1935. He was born in Rogers, OH, and graduated from Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH, before moving to DeWitt. Mr. Dickey was involved in sales promotion with Hub Equipment Sales, Inc. In later years he operated the DeWitt Top Soil Co. Mr. Dickey died 10-20-1967. Mrs. Dickey retired from Upstate Medical Center where she had been a secretary. She lived in Manlius before her death in a nursing home on 4-6-1977. They had: Andrew M. Dickey, who wed Anne Sadoff, of Cazenovia, on 8-16-1963, and lives in Fayetteville, Mary Louise Dickey, who wed Vincent Piscitelli, teaches nursery school, and lives in Akron, NY, and Ruth Esther Dickey, who graduated from SUNY Oswego and earned an MLS from Syracuse University, wed John J. Foley in 1968, and lives in Syracuse.
Frank R. Dickey, Jr., and Amy Read Dickey lived at 112 Cornwall Dr. by 1955, and later moved to The Nottingham complex in Jamesville Mr. Dickey was a physicist with the General Electric Co. Mrs. Dickey was born in Newport News, VA, on 12-6-1922. She received a B.A. in education from Longwood College in 1942, and a nursing degree from Onondaga Community College in 1972. Mrs. Dickey died 10-31-2007. They had: Susan Dickey, who wed Dr. Charles Lynaugh and Joseph Burleson, and lived in Ridgewood, NJ, Nancy Dickey, who wed William Brown, and Patricia Dickey, who wed Ralph Troisi, and lives in Waverly, WV.
Charles E. Dickson and Ethel Dexter Dickson lived at 201 Pelham Rd. by 1943, having lived earlier in Sherrill, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Dickson were born about 1882, and the couple wed about 1904. Mr. Dickson was the secretary of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association. The couple moved to Pompano Beach, FL, about 1944, and Mr. Dickson was elected mayor there in 1946. They had: C. Lucille Dickson Maier, who was born about 1910, and lived in Ellenton, FL, Claire Dickson Gay, who was born in Munnsville, NY, about 1907, married Charles L. Gay in 1929, moved to central FL in 1965, and died there on 3-23-1992, and Emma Dickson Zenger, who lived in Jensen Beach, FL.
Howard L. Dietrich and Mildred Stoddard Dietrich lived at 107 Butternut Drive in the 1940's. He was a native of Persia, NY, and was a 1933 graduate of Houghton College. Mr. Dietrich was the president of the Dietrich Supply Corp. and was very active in the management of the Willett Memorial Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Dietrich was also a graduate of Houghton College. The couple later lived on Woodchuck Hill Rd. before moving to Cape Coral, FL., where Mrs. Dietrich died on 10-29-1979, and Mr. Dietrich died on 11-20-1983. They had: Clarice L. Dietrich, who was born about 1937, earned a master's in dental hygiene from Columbia University in 1960, and resided in Scottsdale, AZ, at her death on 11-2-2002, Lois Dietrich Griffith, who was born in October, 1940, and Edward W. Dietrich, who are both believed to be residing in or near Scottsdale.
Donald D. Dietzer and Hazel Mowbray Dietzer lived at 190 Canterbury Rd. by 1942. They later moved to 111 Dewittshire Rd. Mr. Dietzer was born 5-18-1897, and was a partner with the W. C. Langley investment firm. Mr. Dietzer was previously married to Helen Dietzer, and Hazel Dietzer was married previously to Thomas Halpin of Rochester. Mr. Dietzer died 3-3-1972, and Mrs. Dietzer later lived in Auburn, her home town, where she died in November, 1985, at age 89. Donald and Helen Dietzer had a son: Donald C. Dietzer, who was a decorated veteran of the USA paratroopers in WWII, and was a retired construction equipment salesman residing in Liverpool at his death on 2-7-1990. Hazel Dietzer had a child with her first husband: William Edward Halpin, a Syracuse University graduate and airborne infantry veteran of WWII, who lived in Auburn, NY. Donald D. Dietzer and Hazel Dietzer had one child together: Mowbray Walter Dietzer, who graduated from Wesleyan University, lives in Westport, CT, and is retired from a career with The Wall Street Journal and Barron's Magazine.
Marion Green Digney lived at 4249 Genesee St. by 1953. Mrs. Digney was the widow of Harold P. Digney, and was the treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Oberdorfer Foundry Co. She died on 2-26-1955. They had: Kenneth A. Digney, who wed Beryl Ray Digney, graduated from Syracuse University in 1931, was the Foundry's CEO, and lived in Fayetteville at his death on 10-2-1982, and Del Digney who graduated from Cornell University in 1933, was an executive with the Foundry, and lived in Fabius at his death on 7-5-1965.
Louis J. Discenza and Violet Moore Discenza lived at 6 Pickwick Rd., and by 1960 had moved to Little Fox Circle in Lyndon. He was born about 1914, and was a liquor salesman for Melrose and Co., and later for the Four Roses Distillers. Mrs. Discenza was a native of Whitehaven, England, and died 3-30-1996, in Salisbury, MD. Mr. Discenza resides in Marion, NC. They had: Dr. Richard Discenza, who is a professor in the business school at the University of Colorado branch in Colorado Springs, CO, and Marilyn Discenza-Bookmyer, who wed Roger Lee Bookmyer, of Shelby, OH, and owns an art studio in Salisbury.
Marshal C. Dix and Janet Burke Dix lived at 1 Pebble Hill Rd. before moving to Little Fox Circle in Lyndon in 1958. Mr. Dix was born in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr.Dix retired in 1981, after 40 years as the president and chief executive officer of the Dix Typesetting Co. Inc., and later worked as a commercial real estate broker. Mr. Dix died 12-13-2000, and Mrs. Dix resides in Cazenovia. They had Melanie Dix, who wed Dr. Michael Bowser about 1969, and lives in Syracuse, Susan Dix, of Quebec, and Marshal Dix, Jr., of Fayetteville.
Nicholas Elias D'Jimas lived at 218 Haddonfield Dr. by 1943. Mr. D'Jimas was born on 12-6-1905, and was a native of Kastoria, Greece. He graduated from Union College in 1933, and was a fifth-generation furrier who, with his brothers, established three fur stores in upstate NY. Mr. D'Jimas opened a store in Syracuse at 404 S. Salina St. In 1967, the store was moved to 333 S. Salina St., where it remained until it was closed in 1988. By his death, on 3-26-1995, Mr. D'Jimas was married to Beatrice Boggs D'Jimas.
Wilson Shannon "Bill" Dodge, II, and Alta Seaman Dodge moved to 103 Paddock Dr. in 1958. Mr. Dodge was born on 3-16-1898, and was a native of Cleveland, OH. He was a graduate of Cornell University and was captain of their undefeated football team in 1922. Mr. Dodge worked as a realtor, serving many years as vice president of the Pomeroy Organization, before opening his own firm. He served as president of the Greater Syracuse Board of Realtors. Mrs. Dodge was born on 12-31-1911, and was from New Hartford, NY. She graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. Mr. Dodge died on 9-17-1985, and Mrs. Dodge died on 7-18-1988. Their children: Margaret Dodge Holden, who graduated from Mt. Holyoke College, wed Douglas Hyde, and lives in VT, Katherine Taylor Dodge, who was born in 1945, graduated from St. Lawrence University, married Steve Downing, lives in Grand Rapids, MN, and is the executive director of the Itasca Orchestra, and Wilson Dodge, III, who was born in 1952, graduated from Wheaton College, wed Jane Carroll Dodge, works for the Timberland Corp., and lives in Exeter, NH.
Fred I. Doebber and his wife lived at 108 Dunham Rd., having purchased the house in 1957, and moving from Buffalo. Mr. Doebber was the assistant superintendent of the NYC Railroad. They moved to Rochester by 1964.
Joseph Willard Dolloff and Florence M. Dolloff lived at 226 Wellington Rd. by 1942. Mr. Dolloff was a supervisor with the A. & P. grocery chain. Mrs. Dolloff was born 12-7-1911, and died 11-22-1997, while residing in Buffalo. Their children: Paul Dolloff, who is an attorney living in Buffalo, Caroline Dolloff, Larry Dolloff, and Kathy Dolloff.
Frederick C. Dommeyer and Marion Dommeyer lived at 104 Wellington Rd. by 1940. Dr. Dommeyer was born on 1-12-1909, and was an instructor at Syracuse University. About 1946, Professor Dommeyer accepted a teaching position at St. Lawrence University in Canton. He was a philosopher with an interest in the parapsychological researches of Dr. J. B. Rhine at Duke University. Dr. Dommeyer was living in San Jose, CA, at his death on 7-24-1988. Their child: Barbara Pauline Dommeyer.
George Harold Donnelly and Hazel May Donnelly lived on Genesee St. by 1943, and divorced in June, 1948. Mr. Donnelly was a Marine Corps veteran, and worked as a driver for the Syracuse Bus Co. and the NYS College of Forestry. He died on 2-3-1992, while residing on Marcellus St. in Syracuse. Their children: Reginald Donnelly, of Syracuse, and Earlene "Pat" Donnelly Foisia, of North Syracuse.
Albert W. Doolittle and Eleanor Soder Doolittle lived at 1 Pebble Hill Rd., North, by 1952, and later lived at 415 Brookford Rd. in Syracuse, and on Lyndon Rd. Both were graduates of Syracuse University. Mr. Doolittle was a sales and advertising executive with the A. H. Pond Co. They live now in Naples, FL. They had: Temple L. Doolittle, who graduated from Penn Hall School, Jeffrey Albert Doolittle, and Sara L. Doolittle, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1980, works in advertising, and lives in Reston, VA.
Sidney B. Doolittle and Ivy Brinton Doolittle lived at 5 Paddock Dr. by 1953. Dr. Doolittle was born in Binghamton on 5-8-1917, and was a 1940 graduate of LaFayette College, and a 1944 graduate of Syracuse Medical College. He served with the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Dr. Doolittle specialized in obstetrics and gynecology, and maintained a private practice in Syracuse from 1950 until retiring in 1980. Dr. Doolittle was a state champion in skeet shooting, and raised English setters. The couple moved to Brewerton before Dr. Doolittle's death on 2-11-1995. Mrs. Doolittle was born 3-15-1918, in Bradford, PA, and graduated from Drexel University in 1938. She was a teacher in the public schools of Rockville, MD, and for the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. Mrs. Doolittle was living in Brewerton at her death on 9-17-2001. They had: Sidney Doolittle, Jr., who lives in Brewerton, William H. Doolittle, who wed Maria Doolittle, worked as a restoration foreman for Robbins Rarities and died on 3-21-1989, and Dr. David B. Doolittle, who is a psychoanalyst, and lives in Watertown, MA.
Francis E. Doonan and Gladys O. Doonan lived at 113 Warwick by 1942, and later moved to Court St. in Syracuse. He was an accountant for the Hall-McChesney Co. and a member of the board of directors of WAGE radio. Mrs. Doonan died 4-16-1951. Mr. Doonan died 4-6-1960. They had two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Doonan, who graduated from the Central City Business Institute (CCBI), and wed Robert F. Taylor on 10-6-1951, and Dorothy E. Doonan, who worked as a secretary at the Continental Can Co., and married L. Thomas MacCollum of Liverpool.
John G. Dorrance and Rita A. Simen Dorrance lived at 25 Wexford Rd. Mr. Dorrance was from the Oneida area and was born in 1928. The family lived on Hixson Ave. in Syracuse before moving to DeWitt. Mr. Dorrance died on 1-9-1989. They had: John Dorrance, Jr., who lives in Jupiter, FL, and William Henry Dorrance.
John J. Dorris, Jr., and Jacqueline Willets Dorris lived at 27 Wexford Rd. He was a native of Kentucky and worked for Banner Sales and Service Co., Carrier, and General Electric, while in the Syracuse area. Later he worked as an executive for Honeywell Information Systems in Chicago. Mr. Dorris died in Syracuse on 7-7-1979, although he was then residing in Buffalo Groves, IL. He was 51. It is thought that Mrs. Dorris remarried and lives now on Cape Cod. The couple had four children: Pamela Dorris Hanrahan, John Dorris, III, Richard A. Dorris, and Barbara Dorris.
Frank J. Dorsey and Marguerite Dorsey lived at 209 Haddonfield Dr. by 1955. Mr. Dorsey worked as a structural engineer with the Portland Cement Co. They had: Catherine Dorsey.
William T. Dougan and Shirley E. Taft Dougan moved, in 1952, from Bertram Pl. in Syracuse to 204 Ethridge Rd. He was a native of NYC but graduated from Syracuse University and lived in the Syracuse area for 32 years. Mrs. Dougan, too, was a graduate of Syracuse University. Mr. Dougan worked as an accountant with Hurdman and Cranstoun. Later he was a senior vice-president at Marine Midland Bank. The Dougans moved from DeWitt Acres to Lyndon, and then, in 1979, to Palm Beach Gardens, FL, where he was a mortgage broker. Mr. Dougan died there on 1-31-1990, at age 64. Mrs. Dougan lives now in West Palm Beach, FL. The couple had four children: Linda Dougan Shultz, living in West Palm Beach, Nancy Dougan Hiscock, who is a retired kindergarten teacher, and lives in Williamsport, PA, Diane Dougan, who married Ronald Lanio, and lives in McDonough, GA, and Jeff W. Dougan, who lives near Denver, CO.
Marshall K. Doughty and Paula Grassman Doughty lived at 17 Wexford Rd. by the early 1950's. Mr. Doughty was a toolmaker for Catranis, Inc. He was a native of Poughkeepsie, NY, and was an avid hunter and skier. After the couple divorced, Mr. Doughty wed Maggie Doughty. They divorced and Mr. Doughty then wed Lila Doughty. They lived in Vermont, Arizona, and Brantford, Ontario, Canada, where Mr. Doughty died of cancer on 10-5-1998, at age 68. Lila Doughty is thought to still reside in Brantford. Paula Doughty lived on in the original family home, until she required nursing care. She died on 3-16-2008. The children of Marshall and Paula Doughty: Carole Doughty Nappi, of East Quogue, NY, Kim Doughty Gazzola, of Weston, MA, Kris Doughty Zack, who lives in Raleigh, NC, and Marshall Doughty, Jr., of Syracuse. Marshall and Maggie Doughty had: Martin Doughty, who probably lives in VA, and Patrick M. Doughty, who lived in Lisbon, NH.
Mary Gregg Downer lived at 4304 Genesee St. by 1930. Mrs. Downer was born in England about 1867, and came to this country, with her family, in 1870. She was the widow of Dr. Abner G. Downer, whom she married about 1895. She had taught school before her marriage. Dr. Downer was born about 1858, and was a physician in Chittenango and DeWitt for 50 years before his death on 10-25-1930. Mrs. Downer's sisters, Misses Agnes J. Gregg, Sarah A. Gregg, and Helen E. Gregg lived with the couple. Sarah Gregg was a seamstress. Helen Gregg was a teacher in NYC. She retired in 1944 and moved to DeWitt. Mrs. Downer died on 1-1-1957, and her sister, Sarah, died four days later. Agnes Gregg died on 3-6-1958, at age 90, after living in DeWitt for 53 years. Helen Gregg died on 7-11-1964.
Laurence M. Downes and Jane Riehlman Downes lived at 305 Ambergate Rd. He was born in Brewer, Maine, and lived in Dewittshire until about 1954. Mrs. Downes was a 1944 graduate of Syracuse University's College of Human Development. The family lived in the Syracuse area until 1962 when Mr. and Mrs. Downes moved to Florida. He worked at the General Electric Co. for 36 years before retiring in 1982 as the manager of field services. Mr. Downes was a WWII veteran, serving as a captain in the Army Corps of Engineers. He died 6-30-1993 in Ormond Beach, FL, at the age of 72. The couple had three sons, Larry Downes, of Ormond Beach, FL, John Downes and Kevin Downes, both of Atlanta, GA, and a daughter, Carol Downes Smith of Winter Park, FL.
Wendell B. Downes and Carolyn Taylor Downes lived at 122 Orvilton Dr, having purchased the home in 1954. Mr. Downes, a native of ME, was born on 8-21-1911. Mrs. Downes was born 5-5-1916. He was a salesman with Reynolds Motor Co. The Downes' were residing in Bradenton, FL, at his death on 9-17-1988, and her death in February, 1996. They had: Ruth Downes.
Joseph Jack Downing and Lillian Davies Downing lived at 2 Wexford Rd. They moved there in the summer of 1953, from Topeka, KS. Dr. Downing was born on 3-30-1924, in Norman, OK, and earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma when he was 21. In Syracuse he was a psychiatric epidemiologist with the NYS Mental Health Commission. In 1958, the couple moved to CA, where Dr. Downing held several positions including the presidency of the Gestalt Institute in San Francisco. As a result of his experiences with the drug MDMA, commonly known as "ecstasy," Dr. Downing opposed the Drug Enforcement Agency's outlawing of the drug in 1985. He also traveled to Chile to study spiritual practices and helped establish the Arica Institute of America to explore paths of spirituality. Mrs. Downing died of cancer about 1974 in CA. Dr. Downing died in San Francisco on 10-13-1993. The couple had: Carolyn Downing Wildman, who lived in Honolulu, Shelly Downing, who lived in Pahoa, HI, Tamerlane Downing-Minikoff, who is a physical therapist in Santa Rosa, CA, Deidre Downing Marcolongo, who lived in San Mateo, CA, and Forrest Downing of Bali, Indonesia.
James G. Doyle and Elizabeth Burns Doyle lived at 305 Ambergate Rd. by 1942. He was the secretary of the Syracuse Printing and Publishing Co. She was a life resident of the Syracuse area. The couple divorced and Mrs. Doyle lived at 770 James St. in Syracuse, and at The Nottingham in Jamesville, before her death on 6-3-1997. The couple had three children: Patricia Doyle Henwood, who was born in 1937, and lives in Fayetteville, James G. Doyle, of Danville, CA, who wed Virginia Ann Kinney on 7-6-1963, and Sharon Doyle.
Arthur D. Dumas and Edith Green Dumas lived at 104 Fiordon Rd. by 1955, having lived earlier at 514 Clarendon St, and on Genesee St. in Syracuse. Mr. Dumas was born 8-29-1888, and Mrs. Dumas was born about 1889. They wed about 1922. Mr. Dumas was a sales representative for the Superior Coach Co. He died on 9-10-1969. Mrs. Dumas, a native Syracusan, died on 8-10-1971.
George W. Dummitt and Doris "Dee" Wittenbeck Dummitt lived at 6 Randall Rd. by 1953. Mr. Dummitt was born 5-16-1910, in Hartford, CT. He owned the Arrow Exterminating Co., which he founded in 1928. Mrs. Dummitt was a native of St. Johnsville, NY. She was born about 1918, and died on 9-13-1966. Mr. Dummitt was married to Lucille Newlon Pitcher Dummitt, and residing at 1725 James St. in Syracuse, at his death on 11-18-1981. Lucille Dummitt died in Radisson on 10-22-2007. George and Doris Dummitt had: James M. Dummitt, who was born on 5-4-1941, wed Judy Dummitt on 2-24-1961, operated the family business, and resided in Liverpool at his death on 5-12-2007.
William L. DuPree, Jr., and Edith Hoag DuPree lived at 119 Butternut Dr. Mr. DuPree was a native of Woodstock, GA, and worked for the Carrier Corp. The couple lived in the Eastwood neighborhood of Syracuse before moving to DeWitt Acres in 1941. Mrs. DuPree died at home 7-21-1948, at age 43. Mr. DuPree then lived for a time in Greensboro, NC, before returning to Syracuse where he wed Catherine Burgess. Mr. DuPree died in a car accident on 10-1-1982. William and Edith DuPree had five children: William DuPree, III, who wed Ann Marie Hamilton on 6-30-1956, and lives in Lyndon, Barbara DuPree Knowles, of Brooklyn, Sally DuPree Miller, who lives in Myrtle Beach, SC, Kathryn DuPree, and Steven DuPree.
Malcolm Calhoun Durbin and Mildred A. Durbin lived at 1 Drovers Lane. Mr. Durbin was born on 3-30-1898, and had lived earlier in NYC. He was a pilot during WWI, and also was recalled to service in WWII, and in the Korean Conflict. He eventually held the rank of Lt. Colonel in the USAF reserves. Mr. Durban was self-employed later in the wholesale coffee business. The couple moved to Ormond Beach, FL, in August, 1958, where Mr. Durbin died in February, 1969.
Frederic J. Durkin and Joanne Bourke Durkin lived at 229 Ambergate Rd. He was an executive with Iroquois Truck Rental, Inc. She was a life resident of CNY and graduated from Syracuse University in 1948. The couple moved to 222 Edwards Dr. in Lyndon before 1960. Mrs. Durkin died on 11-10-1980, at the age of 56. Mr. Durkin subsequently wed Mary Rita Casey. She was active in community affairs, including the Corinthian Club, Everson Museum, and Syracuse Stage auxiliary. The second Mrs. Durkin was the widow of Jack McCarthy, who had been president of the J. & F. B. Garrett Paper Co. Mary Durkin died at age 63, on 4-15-1987, while vacationing in FL. Mr. Durkin had moved to The Nottingham prior to his death on 3-21-2007. He and Joanne Durkin had a daughter, Lisa Durkin Armstrong, who was born in 1955, graduated from the Stoneleigh-Burnham school, and resides in Las Vegas.
Jack Dykema and Lou D. Dykema lived at 405 Landsdowne Rd. by 1953, having lived earlier in NC. Mr. Dykema was a salesman for the Sutherland Paper Co. Mrs. Dykema was born 8-23-1921, and resided in Jacksonville, FL, at her death on 6-15-2005. They had: Janis Ann Dykema, who was born October, 1944 in NC, and Cynthia Dykema, who was born about 1947, and who both lived in Saint Helena, CA.
William H. Eager and Helen Hiscock Eager lived at 101 Pelham Rd. by 1953. Mr. Eager was born in Syracuse on 2-2-1880, and grew up in Ithaca, NY. He was a graduate of MIT, and was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Co., in Pittsburgh, following his graduation. Mr. Eager eventually became the president of the Whitman Barnes Manufacturing Co. of Pullman, IL. He retired to the Syracuse area where he entered the brokerage business. Mrs. Eager was born about 1891, and was a graduate of Syracuse University. She was the daughter of the prominent attorney, state senator, and appeals court judge, Frank H. Hiscock. Mr. Eager died on 6-18-1966, at their summer home in Ithaca, and Mrs. Eager died in a nursing home in Ithaca on 2-27-1988. She was 96.
Burrows P. Eaton and Elizabeth Eaton lived at 8 Randall Rd. by 1953. Mr. Eaton was born on 10-4-1914. He was a methods engineer for the Carrier Corp. for 35 years before retiring in 1978. Sometime after 1972, Mr. Eaton married Mildred Conlin Past, the widow of Nicholas Past of Camillus. Mr. Eaton was residing at 111 Cross Rd. in Camillus at his death on 11-26-1985 in Ft. Meyers, FL. The children of B. P. and Elizabeth Eaton: Sarah Eaton, Richard B. Eaton, who lived in Rochester, and Thomas P. Eaton, who was a USN officer.
William B. Eberhardt and Corinne Stafford Eberhardt lived at 301 Haddonfield Dr. in 1949, having moved to DeWitt from Buffalo. He was the president of Syracuse Lithographing Co. Mrs. Eberhardt was born on 9-9-1915, and died on 12-13-1996. They had: William "Skip" Eberhardt, who was born about 1941, and is the proprietor of the historic Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, and James S. Eberhardt, of Canandaigua, NY.
Robert C. Eccleston and Almira Eccleston lived at 205 Ambergate Rd. in the early 1940's, having lived previously in Ridgway, PA. Mr. Eccleston was born about 1878, and was an electrical engineer for the U. S. Hoffman Co. Mrs. Eccleston was born about 1881. They had: Frances M. Eccleston, who was born about 1912, and Robert Eccleston, who was born about 1907.
Ernest E. Eckerson and Lois Blanche Sullivan Eckerson lived at 204 Newfield Rd. by 1953, and at 42 Lynacres Dr. in Lyndon by 1955. Mr. Eckerson was born on 3-12-1913, and was the merchandising manager for the E. W. Edwards & Son department store. Later the couple owned the Eckerson Restaurant, in Eagle Bay, NY. Mr. Eckerson died in February, 1982. Mrs. Eckerson was born 3-8-1915, and was a native of Ripley, NY. She later wed Wilmer N. McKibben, and was living in Erie, PA, when she died on 1-24-1994. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson had: Nancy Eckerson Kini, who lived in Lanikai, HI, Linda Eckerson Schmitt, who retired as a health teacher at Fayetteville-Manlius school, and is living in Fayetteville, Sally Eckerson, and David Eckerson, who lived in Washington, DC.
Alvin John Edel and Myra Henrietta Homer Edel lived at 202 Pelham Rd. by 1953, and at 400 Brampton Dr. by 1955. Mr. Edel was born 11-1-1903, and was a native of Olean, NY. He was an accountant at the Niagara Mohawk Power Co. for more than 40 years. Mr. Edel died on 5-14-1966. Mrs. Edel was born on 2-24-1902, and died 12-25-1980. They had: Judith Ann Edel, who wed William E. Ballway, and lived in Cazenovia.
Julian W. Edgecomb and Rose Edgecomb lived at 190 Canterbury Rd. He was the son of New York State Supreme Court Justice Ernest I. Edgecomb. Mr. Edgecomb, himself, served as County Attorney and as a family court judge. They had Marianne Edgecomb, who was born about 1935, and Margaret Rose Edgecomb, born in 1938.
Basil E. Edson lived at 6 Pebble Hill Rd., South, by 1955. Born in Jordan, NY, on 1-14-1916, Mr. Edson graduated from the Powelson Business Institute. He had been with the Young & Franklin Tool Works, Inc. for about 40 years when he became president of the firm in 1974. Mr. Edson died on 7-16-2002.
Charles S. Edwards and Jean Zofia Frisbie Edwards lived at 1 Drovers Lane in the late 1950's. He was a native of Philadelphia and was admitted to the bar in 1963. He later served as the Manlius town justice. The Edwards were wed in August, 1957, and lived on James St. in Syracuse before moving to DeWitt Acres. They live now in Fayetteville. Their children: Jody Edwards and Wendy Edwards, both of Sag Harbor, NY, Charles H. Edwards II, who died 7-18-1995, and Jill Edwards, of Marin County, CA.
Robert P. Edwards and Helen Edwards lived at 205 Pelham Rd. by 1942. Mr. Edwards was a salesman for the Drennan Hardware Co. William Edwards, who was a foreman at the Prosperity Co. lived with them. Their children: Robert Edwards, Jr., Donald Edwards, Carl Edwards, and John Edwards.
Robert E. Eells and Hester Mack Eells lived at 210 Haddonfield Dr. by 1955, and moved to Skaneateles about 1964. Mr. Eells was born on 2-15-1905, and worked in the insurance department of the Niagara Mohawk Power Co. for 55 years. Mrs. Eells was born on 1-24-1907, in Auburn, and died on 6-9-1985. Mr. Eells died on 12-7-1995, while living in Venice, FL. They had: Margaret Eells Mahoney, who lived in Nashua, NH, Barbara Eells Libbee, of Venice, and Carlyn Eells Helmer, of Syracuse.
Melvin A. Eggers and Mildred Chenoweth Eggers lived at 212 Ambergate Rd. Mr. Eggers was born in Indiana on 2-21-1916, earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University, and pursued graduate work at the University of Chicago. Mrs. Eggers was born in Markle, IN. She was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College in Indiana, and did graduate work at Syracuse University. Her first job was teaching second grade in an Indiana school. Mr. Eggers served in the USN as a Japanese language officer during World War II. After the war, he became an economic analyst for the U.S. War Department in Tokyo. Following this the couple moved to New Haven, CT, where Mr. Eggers studied for his doctorate at Yale University and Mrs. Eggers taught in a country day school. The family came to Syracuse in 1950 when Dr. Eggers joined the Syracuse University faculty as an economics professor, and Mrs. Eggers taught reading at Moses DeWitt school. He was elected to the university's highest office, Chancellor, June 4, 1971, and retired August 19, 1991. Dr. Eggers died 11-20-1994 and Mrs. Eggers died 7-4-1997. They had: Nancy Beilstein of Tustin, CA, who died 6-7-1997, at age 54, William Eggers, who is senior counsel for the Nixon Peabody law firm in Rochester, and divides his time between Canandaigua Lake and Webster, NY, and Richard Eggers of NYC.
Henry J. Eichenlaub and Margaret Pierce Eichenlaub lived at 109 Fiordon Rd. by 1953. Mr. Eichenlaub was born 4-30-1911, and was a lifelong resident of CNY. He was a self employed builder, and later worked for NY State as a construction safety inspector. Mr. Eichenlaub died on 5-3-1976, in Syracuse. Mrs. Eichenlaub was born about 1913, and came to CNY in 1927. She was a graduate of Central City Business Institute (CCBI), and retired from Eastern Milk Producers. Mrs. Eichenlaub resided in Liverpool before her death on 11-1-2007. Their children: Rosemary Eichenlaub, who wed Michael Samentello, and resides in Rochester, David H. Eichenlaub, who wed Donna Eichenlaub, and lives in Liverpool, and Gretchen Eichenlaub, who married Bruce Rabjohns, is a registered nurse, and lives in Rochester.
John Oran Eichler and Aldona W. Eichler lived at 102 Wellington Rd., having purchased the home in 1941. He received an undergraduate degree in engineering from NYU. In 1943 he earned a master's at Syracuse University and became a teacher there. Mr. Eichler was living in Marietta, GA before his death on 11-7-1989. Mrs. Eichler also died in GA, on 11-11-2003, at age 88. The couple had two sons, John Alan Eichler, and Oran H. Eichler, who was born in July, 1946, and lives in GA.
Rupert J. Eisgruber and Kathryn A. Eisgruber lived at 1 Wexford Rd. by 1956. He was born in Germany in 1918, and worked as a foreman for the NYC railroad. It is believed that he moved to Winter Haven, FL, following retirement.
John H. Elleman, Jr., and Betty-Lou King Elleman lived at 209 Wellington Rd., after purchasing the home in 1955. Born in Evanston, IL, Mr. Elleman served in WWII and was a 1949 graduate of Purdue University. Mrs. Elleman was born in Syracuse, and attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Syracuse University. Mr. Elleman retired in 1985 after 35 years as vice president and secretary of King Storage and Warehouse. They were charter members of Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Elleman died on 5-20-1998, while residing in Manlius, and Mrs. Elleman died on 10-19-2000. Their children: Deidre Elleman, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Thomas K. Elleman, of DeRuyter, NY.
E. Ralph Ellis and Virginia Shenk Ellis lived at 303 Hampshire Dr. by 1949, having lived earlier at 106 Victoria Place, in Syracuse. Mr. Ellis was born 11-12-1891, and was in the insurance business with the Ellis, Moreland, & Ellis firm. Mrs. Ellis was from N. Tonawanda, NY, and was born about 1891. She graduated from Oswego Normal School, (a teacher's college), in 1912, and the couple wed about 1922. Mrs. Ellis taught in several school districts, and died on 11-7-1965. Mr. Ellis was residing in E. Syracuse at his death on 1-6-1973. They had: Georgianna Ellis, who was born about 1923, graduated from Sweet Briar College, was a social worker in Philadelphia, and was living at 2728 James St., in Syracuse, at her death on 2-25-1990, and Virginia Ellis, who was born in 1929, graduated from Tusculum College, worked for Colonial Airlines, wed Richard David Harris, and lived in Minoa, and Sarasota, FL.
Roswell Roy Ellis and Anna B. Ellis lived at 100 York Rd. by 1943. Mr. Ellis was born on 6-4-1894, in Laverne, IA. Mrs. Ellis was born about 1896, and the couple wed about 1915. He was a self-employed milk salesman, but retired from the Fairbank Dairy in 1961. Mr. Ellis moved to Camillus shortly before his death on 11-24-1985. They had: William R. Ellis, (see the listing below), and Dorothy Ellis Musengo, who was born about 1917, and Ethel Ellis Uhl, who was born about 1916, both of Camillus.
William Roy Ellis and June M. Cornish Ellis lived at 21 Pickwick Rd. They purchased this home new from the builder, Gates-Douglas Construction Co., in January, 1953. They later moved to Onondaga Hill. Mr. Ellis grew-up in DeWitt, (see listing above) and was an Army veteran of WWII. He worked as a mechanic for Kimball’s Service Station on E. Colvin St. in Syracuse. Mr. Ellis died of a heart attack at work on 6-6-1966, at age 44. Mrs. Ellis died on 7-23-2004, in Elbridge. The couple had a son, William R. Ellis, II, of Elbridge, and a daughter, June Ellis Lockwood.
Hugh Kingsley Elwood and Marie Heigl Elwood lived at 101 Cornwall Dr. by 1943. Mr. Elwood was born about 1913. The couple lived with the family of his widowed mother, Mary Elwood, (see the listing below). Mr. Elwood worked at GE, before his death in December, 1944--possibly in WWII. Mrs. Elwood later wed Harry R. Spereau, of Fayetteville. She was a graduate of Oswego State Normal School, and taught in Jamesville for many years. before retiring in 1971. Mrs. Elwood-Spereau died on 8-3-1994, while residing at 102 Churchill Lane, Fayetteville. She and Mr. Elwood had: Roger Hugh Elwood, who was born about the time of his father's death, graduated from Onondaga Community College, wed Barbara Jean Gwyn in 1969, worked as a draftsman and designer for GE in Schenectady, and died on 8-13-1978, at age 34.
Charles A. Elwood and Mary Elwood lived at 101 Cornwall Dr. by 1942, having lived before in Walton, NY. Mr. Elwood was born about 1880, and worked as an auto mechanic. Mrs. Elwood was born in PA about 1882, and they wed about 1905. The couple moved to CNY in the early 1930's. It is believed that Mr. Elwood died about 1943. They had: Teresa Elwood O'Keefe, who was born about 1906, and lived at home in 1942, Hugh K. Elwood, (see the entry above), Victor W. Elwood, who was born about 1914, Carl P. Elwood, who was a singer and an interior decorator for the E. W. Edwards Department store, and died, at age 25, of a heart attack on 3-18-1944, Lloyd M. Elwood, who was born about 1921, and worked at the Remington-Rand Co., and a sister who wed Willis Stoddard, and lived in Binghamton.
Donald P. Ely and Martha L. Spencer Ely lived at 119 Butternut Dr., by 1956, and later at 121 Butternut Dr. and, since 1962, at 704 Hamilton Parkway in DeWitt Hills. Dr. Ely earned a doctorate from Syracuse University where he taught instructional technology. He was also a lay minister at the Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church, and a trustee for the Onondaga County library system. Mrs. Ely graduated from the State University of New York at Albany and has been active in civic and charitable organizations including Habitat For Humanity. They have three sons, Mark E. Ely, who lives near Charlotte, NC, Scott H. Ely, who lives in CO, and Christopher S. Ely, who lives in DeWitt.
Grant C. Emerick and Blanche Sharrer Emerick lived at 218 Wellington Rd. by 1942. He was born in Batavia, NY, but lived most of his life in the Syracuse area. He was an army veteran of World War I. Mr. Emerick worked as an auditor for the NYS tax department, retiring in 1960 after 40 years of service. He was the president of the board of trustees at DeWitt Community Church. Mrs. Emerick's brother, John J. Sharrer, lived with the family for four years prior to his death on 5-19-1964. He was 78 and had been a long time employee of the Spector Cadillac Co. Mr. Emerick died 11-15-1964, and Mrs. Emerick died 12-7-1971. They had: Grant Philip Emerick, who was born in Syracuse, served in the Marine Corps during WWII, graduated from Syracuse University in 1949, wed Mary Drollinger, retired as the branch manager of Fidelity & Deposit Co. of Maryland, and resided in Cincinnati, OH, before his death on 9-23-1990.
J. Perry Emerson and Jean Emerson lived at 206 Pelham Rd. by 1955, but soon moved to Warners, NY. Mr. Emerson was the state manager for the U.S. Pipe & Foundry Co. Their children: Gordon Emerson, Sarah Emerson, Norman P. Emerson, who graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, in 1962, and became a submarine commander, and Cathy Emerson.
Robert E. Emery and Shirley B. Emery lived at 33 Pickwick Rd. He sold building materials for the Vermont Marble Co. They had a daughter, Linda Emery.
Allen F. Engle and Olive Rockwell Engle lived at 37 Wexford Rd. She was from Nedrow, NY, and earned a degree in music from Syracuse University. He worked as a paper salesman for the Alling and Cory Co. for 13 years before becoming the purchasing director for Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Engle later lived in Charlottesville, VA, before moving to Crossville, TN, where they now reside. Their children: Margaret M. Engle, William Allen Engle, and Katherine M. Engle.
Donald A. Engel and Harriet "Honey" Breinin Engel lived at 303 Landsdowne Rd. in the Orvilton neighborhood by 1953, and later lived at 303 Windsor Dr. Mr. Engel was born in Syracuse in 1921, and graduated from North High School. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Mr. Engel was an executive salesman for the J. & F. B. Garrett Paper Co. and retired in 1983 after 43 years of service to the firm. Mrs. Engel, who died on 4-14-1995, was a life resident of the Syracuse area, and worked for the Kemper Insurance Co. She was a former president of the DeWitt Women of Rotary. Mr. Engel subsequently wed Jacqueline Lee-Engel. He died on 9-29-2002. Donald and Harriet Engel had: Karen Lee Engel, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1968, wed Gary B. Kapesser on 7-25-1970, worked for Crouse-Irving hospital, and lives now in Blue Ridge, VA, and Thomas C. Engel, who graduated from RPI, wed Sally Phillips, was an engineer for the Niagara-Mohawk Corp., and lives now in Pompey, NY.
Robert M. Erb and Mildred Knoer Erb lived at 115 Cornwall Dr. by 1942, at 309 Cornwall Dr. by 1949, and at 108 Windsor Dr. by 1957. Mr. Erb was born in Buffalo in March, 1904, and came to CNY about 1940. He was the sales manager for the Worthington Pump and Machinery Co., and later worked in sales at the Syracuse Supply Co. The couple was living at 5100 Highbridge St. in Fayetteville, at Mr. Erb's death on 6-22-1977. Mrs. Erb was born in Buffalo on 6-28-1905, and died on 3-22-2000, while residing at The Nottingham, in Jamesville. Their children: Nancy Marie Erb Strodel, who wed James Andrew Strodel, on 2-2-1952, and lives in Fayetteville, Marilyn Erb, who wed Edward G. Atkinson on 10-5-1957, and lives in Newtown, CT, and Robert Erb, Jr., of Honeoye Falls, NY.
Curtis R. Erickson and Emolyn Edin Erickson lived at 49 Wexford Rd. in the late 1950's. He was a school photographer. They live now in Palm City, FL, and have two children, Jeffrey R. Erickson, who was born about 1958, and John C. Erickson, born about 1964.
Frederick R. Eschenbecker and Anna Eschenbecker lived at 4001 Genesee St. by 1953. A native of NYS, Mr. Eschenbecker was born 9-28-1895. He was the founder and president of the Syracuse Truck Sales Co. At his death on 4-3-1974, he was married to Mercedes Afanador, and residing in Ft. Meyers, FL. F. R. and Anna Eschenbecker had: Elaine Anne Eschenbecker, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1946, wed Everett Lawrence Sharp on 7-23-1948, and resided in Rifton, NY, at her death, and Verona Eschenbecker Stewart, who earned a master's degree from Syracuse University in 1944, and lives in Palm Desert, CA.
Charles Ettinger and Caroline Ettinger lived at 4302 Genesee St. by 1943. Mr. Ettinger was with the J. F. White Engineering Co. They had: Charles Ettinger, Jr.
Hiram John Evans and Jean Buckland Evans lived at 201 Cornwall Dr. by 1953. Dr. Evans was born in Granville, NY, on 5-13-1916. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1937, and earned his doctorate in biology from Harvard in 1942. He then served with the Army Air Corps in the PTO from 1942 until 1946. Dr. Evans taught zoology at Syracuse University from 1947 to 1964, and was active in local Democratic party politics. Dr. Evan's mother, Hazel M. Evans, who was born in Pawlet, VT, lived with the family for about 18 months prior to her death in DeWitt on 5-7-1959. From 1965 until his retirement in 1979, Dr. Evans was a teacher and administrator at Curry College in Milton, MA. In 1979, the couple moved to Pawlet, VT, where Dr. Evans died at age 90, on 12-19-2005. Dr. and Mrs. Evans wed in Schenectady on 8-7-1944, and Mrs. Evans still resides in Pawlet. Their children: Susan Evans McDougall, Rebecca Evans, Megan Evans, and Ann Evans, who was born about 1954.
Frank William Everett and Bertha W. Everett lived at 101 Haddonfield Dr. by 1942, having lived earlier at 88 Adams St., in Rochester, and at 116 Hickok Ave., in Syracuse. Mr. Everett was born 10-4-1884. He was an investigator for the Aetna Insurance Co., and later, a supervisor for the Maryland Casualty Co.
Caspar Fabing, Jr., and Jean Ramage Fabing lived on Genesee St. by 1943. Mr. Fabing's father, Caspar Fabing, Sr., was a fourth generation blacksmith before becoming the postmaster of DeWitt in 1923. Mr. Fabing, Jr., grew up in DeWitt, which was then known as Orville. He was a guard at the U. S. Hoffman Co. Mrs, Fabing was born in Scotland in 1881. She moved to Auburn about 1956, and died there on 12-8-1974.
Leigh E. Fadden and S. Patricia Hibbard Fadden lived at 405 Landsdowne Rd. by 1950. Dr. Fadden was a dentist with offices at 4508 Genesee St. Dr. Fadden lives now in Hilton Head Island, SC. They had a son who was born in September, 1947.
Eugene A. Failmezger and Elsie Crowell Failmezger lived at 109 Wellington Rd., beginning in 1933. After renting for five years they purchased the home in 1938. Mr. Failmezger was from Brooklyn and lived in the Syracuse area for 35 years. Mrs. Failmezger was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. She graduated from Montclair State University and was a teacher in Plainfield, NJ schools. Mr. Failmezger was a mechanical engineer with the U.S. Hoffman Co. and later he and his wife operated the Air Pro Co. in East Syracuse. Mr. Failmezger died 9-12-1970, and Mrs. Failmezger died in Manning, SC on 8-5-2000 at age 93. They had two sons, Robert and Eugene, Jr., who played important roles in a tragedy involving their neighbors, the Parratts, the details of which can be found under that family's listing. Robert C. Failmezger graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 and from their law school three years later. He wed Anita Bennett, a 1953 Syracuse University graduate, and they live in Fayetteville where he was the village justice. Eugene Failmezger, a judge, lives in Summerton, SC, and is married to Suzanne Harvin.
Arthur Ray Fairbank and Hazel Silkworth Fairbank lived at 104 Jamesville Rd. by 1929, and later lived at 113 Charing Rd. Mr. Fairbank was a dairyman who owned and operated the Fairbank Farms Dairy. He was born 6-14-1894. Mrs. Fairbank was born 4-28-1901, and was a native of Warners. The couple wed about 1919, and she died on 12-25-1993. Mr. Fairbank died on 6-23-1976. Their children: Betty L. Fairbank, who wed Arthur Mueller, (see the Mueller entry), Arthur R. Fairbank, who was born about 1925, Robert A. Fairbank, who was born in 1929, and lived in Manlius, and Ronald D. Fairbank, who was born about 1941, retired as product manager for the Carrier Corp., and lives in Liverpool, NY.
Arthur R. Fairbank lived at 115 Jamesville Rd. by 1942. He was born about 1862, and operated a farm. His daughter, Clara L. Fairbank, who was born in 1888, lived with him, and worked as a housekeeper. Following Mr. Fairbank's death, Miss Fairbank moved to a small house at 109 Jamesville Rd., which was next door to her brother, Charles Fairbank, (see below). Arthur Fairbank had been married to Jeanne C. Fairbank, who was born about 1862, and, in addition to Clara, they had: Edmund R. Fairbank, who was born about 1891, Arthur R. Fairbank, (see the listing above), Guy C. Fairbank, who was born about 1897, (see below), and Charles P. Fairbank, (see below).
Charles Paul Fairbank and Margaret L. Fairbank lived at 111 Jamesville Rd. by 1943. Mr. Fairbank was born about 1899. He was a machinist for the Precision Castings Co. for 19 years, and also spent 30 years as the superintendent of the Orville Water District. Mrs. Fairbank was born about 1898, and the couple wed about 1919. Mr. Fairbank resided all of his life in DeWitt, and died on 10-10-1960. Their children: Edwin A. Fairbank, who was killed in action at Anzio on 2-21-1944, at age 21, Martha Jane Fairbank, who was born about 1924, married Arnold Louis Zilm on 3-26-1949, and lives in Cortland, and Isabelle Louise Fairbank, who died on 4-15-1932, at age 10. Isabelle was walking to school near the intersection of Charing Rd. and Jamesville Rd. when she was struck and killed by a truck driven by an intoxicated driver.
Clara L. Fairbank, who was born in 1888, lived with her widowed father, Arthur R. Fairbank, at 115 Jamesville Rd., and worked as a housekeeper. Following her father's death, Miss Fairbank moved to a small house at 109 Jamesville Rd., which was next door to her brother, Charles P. Fairbank, (see above). Miss Fairbank faithfully served the DeWitt Community Church as treasurer, and in many other ways, for 40 years. A circle of the Church is named in her honor and her personal Bible was selected to be included in the cornerstone of the "new" Church when it was dedicated in the fall of 1955. Miss Fairbank died on 4-12-1955.
Guy C. Fairbank and Beatrice Young Fairbank lived at 4001 Genesee St. by 1946, having lived earlier on York Rd. Mr. Fairbank was born about 1897, and was the proprietor of a stable and cattle sales business. At one time he had an interest in the family dairy and owned a large farm in Jamesville. Mrs. Fairbank was born about 1901, and the couple wed about 1922. They moved to Syracuse about 1946, and lived at 1806 Midland Ave. at Mr. Fairbank's death on 5-8-1949. Mrs. Fairbank then married Edward McDermott. She died 5-1-1958. Mr. and Mrs. Fairbank had: Shirley Jane Fairbank, who was born about 1923, worked for the NY Telephone Co. and wed George E. Haffenden, III, about 1943, Doris Elaine Fairbank, who was born in 1926, was a concert vocalist in NYC, wed Harry V. Ruth, and lived in Youngstown, OH, and Bernard G. Fairbank, who wed Rosemary Anna Palmer on 7-1-1950, and lived in Dryden, NY.
Joseph H. Fallon and Virginia Smith Fallon lived at 31 Wexford Rd. He worked as a sales engineer for United-Carr Fasteners Corp. They moved to DeWitt from the Rugby Apartments in Syracuse. They had: Joseph Fallon and Kahlman Fallon, who wed Janan Fallon, is a government attorney, and lives in Atlanta.
William W. Faloon and Roberta Emery Faloon lived at 215 Wellington Rd. He graduated from Allegheny College in 1941 and was a physician with the State University Medical School. Dr. Faloon lives now in Pittsford, NY. They had a daughter, Karen Faloon, and a son, William W. Faloon, Jr., who graduated from medical school at SUNY, Syracuse, and is an orthopedic surgeon in Spokane, WA.
Thomas M. Farmer and Joan Idella Grosvenor Farmer lived at 205 Wellington Rd. and later at 15 Pebble Hill Rd., South, in DeWitt. Born March 3, 1921 in Syracuse, Mr. Farmer was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He studied engineering at Syracuse University but earned his degree from the University of Notre Dame, and worked as a consulting engineer. Mr. Farmer was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt for over 50 years. He died 2-11-2004, at the age of 82, still residing in DeWitt. The couple had three children: Thomas G. Farmer, of Tucson, AZ, Peter M. Farmer, of Acton, MA, and Joan Farmer Berkey, a financial consultant, who lives in Old Saybrook, CT.
George Farnell and Ruth Morgan Farnell moved to 106 Charing Rd., from 111 Dundee Dr. in Syracuse, in 1956. Mr. Farnell was born 12-18-1916, and was a senior liability engineer with the Carrier Corp. He served as president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Mr. Farnell died on 9-2-1984, during a vacation trip to Mexico. Mrs. Farnell was born on 1-19-1919, and raised in Memphis, TN. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, but lived in the Syracuse area most of her life. She died in Belmont, MA, on 2-11-2005. Their children: Douglas W. Farnell, who graduated from Lehigh University in 1968 with a degree in mechanical engineering, wed Helen Farnell, and lives in Seattle, WA, Richard M. Farnell, who married Carolyn Farnell, and lives in Juneau, AK, and Nancy K. Farnell, who lives in Belmont.
John H. Farnham, Jr., and Corinne Howard Farnham lived at 403 Cornwall Dr. by 1957, and later moved to 305 Landsdowne Rd. Mr. Farnham was a native of Syracuse and graduated from Amherst College. He was an Eagle Scout and USN veteran, serving during WW II in the submarine service. Mr. Farnham was an agent for the Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Co. and a partner in Hills, Farnham, and Hills, a general insurance agency, until retiring in 1990. Mr. Farnham died on 2-13-2006. They had: John Howard Farnham, who married Ellen Lorraine Duhamel on 4-30-2004, and lives in Arlington, VA, Jeffrey Lyman Farnham, who married Jennifer Farnham, and lived in Raleigh, NC, and Ross Arend Farnham, who lives in Falls Church, VA.
Jerome B. Farnsworth and Irene Muncy Farnsworth lived at 219 Ambergate Rd. by 1942. He was a self-employed general contractor. Mrs. Farnsworth was a 1930 graduate of Syracuse University and taught at Jamesville-DeWitt HS. Mrs. Farnsworth's mother, Amelia F. Muncy, lived with the Farnsworths until her death on 11-8-1972, at age 91. Mr. Farnsworth died in 1962 and Mrs. Farnsworth died, at age 90, on 10-11-1999. Their children: Jerome "Skip" M. Farnsworth, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1955 with an engineering degree, married Barbara Farnsworth and lives in Fayetteville, Susan Farnsworth, who wed William F. Ballard, and lives in Fayetteville, and Ann Farnsworth Eck, who is a language teacher residing in Moorestown, NJ.
Joseph D. Farranto and Margaret Woods Farranto lived at 1 Morton Rd. by 1942. The family had lived earlier in Syracuse, and possibly on Ambergate Rd. Mr. Farranto was born in Hartford, CT, 7-15-1904. He graduated from Colgate University in 1927, and attended Harvard law school. He was a special agent for the Glens Falls Indemnity Co., and later became the president of the Wholesale Building Corp. Mr. Farranto was active in the construction of apartment projects during the 1950's. He died on 2-22-1987. Mrs. Farranto was born 1-1-1908, and graduated from Trinity College. She taught at Pebble Hill and other schools, and died 8-9-1980. They had: Dr. Margot Ann Farranto Badran, who was born in December, 1936, is a professor at Northwestern University and a historian specializing in the role eof women in the Middle East, Brian Anthony "Buz" Farranto, who was born in October,1939, lives in DeWitt and Big Moose, NY, Susan Farranto Schalkwijk, who was born in January, 1942, and lives in Waalre, Holland, and John Joseph Farranto, who was born in September, 1946, and lived in Bethel, CT.
Hayden Wallace Farrar and Emily Spillett Breinin Farrar lived at 303 Landsdowne Rd. by 1942. Mr. Farrar was born on 6-23-1891, and died on 1-23-1959. He was a bus driver for the Syracuse & Oswego Bus Lines Co. Mrs. Farrar died on 11-7-1950. Mrs. Farrar was married previously and had: Harriett "Honey" Breinin, who wed Donald Engel, (see their listing above), and Lt. Charles Francis Breinin, who was born about 1918, married Alvayin Breinin, studied chemical engineering at Syracuse University, and was serving in the Army Air Corps, when he died in a plane crash in Guatemala in September, 1942.
Anthony Frank Farsaci and Eunice Dippold Farsaci lived at 4241 Genesee St. by 1953, Mr. Farsaci was born in East Syracuse and was a fruit and produce broker for 30 years. He died on 6-21-1959. Mrs. Farsaci was born about 1900 and was a native of Syracuse. She lived at 17 Pebble Hill Rd., North, but moved to Manlius in 1971, and died on 1-14-1993, while residing on Golf Rd. They had: Jeanne Farsaci McNeely, who graduated from Marywood University in 1956, was a teacher, and lived in Manlius.
S. Martin Fassler and Lillian Thornhill Fassler lived at 227 Pelham Rd. by 1953, and by 1955 had moved to Stratford, CT. Mr. Fassler was born in NJ on 4-26-1907, and earned his master's degree from Columbia University. He was the advertising manager of the General Electric Co. Mr. Fassler died 7-2-1997, in Trumbell, CT. Mrs. Fassler was born on 3-24-1907, and was a native of Bridgeport, CT. She died in Trumbell on 12-24-1997. Their children: Paul Fassler, who was born about 1944, and Gail Fassler, who was born about 1942.
Diana Fath lived at 202 Orvilton Dr. in the early 1940's. Miss Fath was born in Camillus about 1925, and grew up in Jamesville. As a teenager she was a live-in maid for the Charles Wentworth family on Orvilton Dr. She married Paul N. Craner in 1942. Mr. Craner was born in Syracuse on 3-3-1918, and graduated from Cornell University. He worked as an agriculture teacher and she spent 20 years as a service agent for US Air, retiring in 1982. Mr. and Mrs. Craner lived primarily in Westmoreland, NY. Mrs. Craner died on 3-22-1997, and Mr. Craner died on 9-30-2003. They had: Kathy Craner, who wed Andrew Usyk, and lives in Rome, NY.
Daniel B. Faulkner and Katherine Layton Faulkner lived at 113 Warwick Rd. She was born 7-28-1907, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1930. Mr. Faulkner died 4-10-1950. Mrs. Faulkner was living in N. Syracuse at her death on 10-9-1982. Their children: Gail V. Faulkner, who graduated from Syracuse University, married Lyndon D. Schuldt, a music teacher and professional trombonist, on 5-26-1957, and lives in New Port Richey, FL, and Daniel L. Faulkner, of Nedrow, NY.
William G. Fehlman and Betty B. Fehlman lived at 108 Dewittshire Rd. in the 1950's. He was the owner and operator of Fehlman Brothers Automotive Co. in Eastwood. The couple reside now in Auburn, NY. They have: Bruce Fehlman, who operates the family business, April Fehlman Rand, who lives in Ft. Lee, NJ. From a previous marriage, Mrs. Fehlman had: Patricia Beardsley Roker, who is an author and radio personality in the Bahamas.
Lewis H. Fellows and Alice Frost Fellows lived at 310 Dewittshire Rd., South, by 1942. He worked for the FDIC, and, later, for Syracuse Savings Bank. Mrs. Fellows was a native of Glens Falls. She was an RN, having completed training at Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, and worked for the Onondaga Sanatorium. Mrs. Fellow's widowed mother, Minnie B. Frost lived with the couple until her death in March, 1938. Mrs. Fellows died 11-24-1958 and Mr. Fellows subsequently married Marguerite Fellows. He moved to Florida in 1962, and died in Ft. Lauderdale on 11-16-1969. Mrs. Alice Fellows had a son, Richard Parks Frost, by a previous marriage.
Charles V. Fenn and Isabelle Williams Fenn lived at 307 Hampshire Dr. by 1952. Mr. Fenn was born in Montclair, NJ, about 1907, and graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology. He was with the Carrier Corp. for 43 years and retired as president and chief operating officer of the firm. Mrs. Fenn was born in Brooklyn in 1907, and graduated from Rutgers University. She was a home economics teacher in NJ for 10 years. In 1972, after Mr. Fenn retired, the couple moved to Vero Beach, FL, where both died; Mrs. Fenn on 12-29-1990, and Mr. Fenn on 11-1-2000. Robert W. Ferrell and Mary J. Ferrell lived at 114 Cornwall Dr. by 1950. Mr. Ferrell was an engineering executive with the General Electric Corp. They had a son, Robert Ferrell, who was born about 1942.
Philip L. Ferro and Phyllis Ferro lived on Andrews Rd. by 1955. Dr. Ferro was a physician. The couple divorced, and Dr. Ferro wed Barbara Arno, and lived in Jamesville. Phyllis Ferro wed Raymond D. Lavelanet, a native of Port-Au-Prince Haiti, and lived in MA and DeWitt. The children of Philip and Phyllis Ferro: Dr. Beth Ferro Mitchell, who wed Dr. David R. Mitchell, earned a doctorate in biology from Syracuse University, and lives in DeWitt, Daniel E. Ferro, who married Katherine Goodrich in 1985, and David J. Ferro, who married Wendy Ferro, and lives in Denver. Philip and Barbara Ferro had: Matthew Ferro, who wed Wendy Ferro.
J. Russell Fick and Edythe W. Fick lived at 104 Downing Rd. by 1939. Mr. Fick was born 8-9-1891, and was a salesman for the Murphy Paint Co. In August, 1949, the couple moved to Lewisburg, PA. They later moved to Walterboro, SC, where Mr. Fick died in January, 1971. Mrs. Fick, who was born 11-12-1901, died there on 6-13-1999. They had: William W. Fick, who was born in 1922, wed Harriet Pearcy, was in the battle for Guadalcanal with the Marine Air Corps during WWII, was a lumber buyer, owned Callawassie Island, SC, and lived in Walterboro, and Mary Susan Fick.
Douglas E. Finn and Hilda Finn lived at 118 Grenfell Rd., having purchased the home in September, 1952, and moving from Plainfield, NJ. Mr. Finn was service manager for the Western Electric Co. He is thought to have been a native of Cleveland, and to have been born about 1907. They had: Douglas Finn, Jr., Gerald Finn, and Karen Ann Finn.
James L. Fiore and Hazel Thompson Fiore lived at 101 Fiordon Rd. by 1953. Mr. Fiore was born on 4-9-1902, and was a home builder. He died on 10-23-1965, while residing at 324 Arnold Ave., in Syracuse. Mrs. Fiore wed Adolph O. Haug. She retired as an auditor with Onondaga Savings Bank, and moved from the Syracuse area in 1977. Mrs. Fiore-Haug died on 4-18-2002, in Johns Island, SC. She and Mr. Fiore had: Marilynn Fiore, who wed Jerome E. Goode, and lives in Cicero, Barbara Fiore, who wed Dr. Martin R. Chamberlin, and lives in Johns Island, and James "Skip" Fiore, Jr., who graduated from Notre Dame in 1962, served as an officer in the USN, and is a retired bank president in Verona, WI.
Edward "Peter" Loxley Firth and Jessie Whiting Firth lived at 307 Cornwall Dr. by 1942. Mr. Firth was born 3-7-1886, in Hope, Derbyshire, England. He was an excellent cricket player and graduated from Cambridge University. Mr. Firth served as a brigadier general in the English army during WWI. He came to America in 1923, and lived primarily in CNY. He became a citizen in 1942, and served as a major in the Army Air Corps during WWII. During the War, Major Firth was injured by a bomb in England and was wounded by anti-aircraft fire while on a reconnaissance flight in a Flying Fortress. He died on 1-8-1949, while residing in DeWitt. Mrs. Firth was born 3-30-1903. By 1943, Mrs. Firth's mother, Mildred Whiting, the widow of Harvey D. Whiting, lived with the family. Mrs. Firth worked as a bookkeeper for the Chamber of Commerce, and was the office manager for Abe Cooper, Inc. After Mr. Firth's death, she wed George W. Jamieson, and lived in Phoenix, NY, and Vero Beach, FL. She died in FL on 10-3-1999. Mr. and Mrs. Firth had: Loxley R. Firth, who was born on 5-13-1927, lived in Trinidad, CO, and moved to Vero Beach, where he died on 2-15-2002. (Some accounts in England refer to Mr. Firth as Mr. Loxley-Firth.)
Vincent Jerome Fischer and Beatrice McConville Fischer lived at 204 Cornwall Dr. by 1940, and later lived at 135 Edgemere Lane in Fayetteville. Mr. Fischer was born 7-20-1905, and died in September, 1974. He was a commercial artist for the Kaletzki advertising agency. A native of Ogdensburg, Mrs. Fischer was born 4-6-1907. She was a graduate of Potsdam State Teachers College and taught for 38 years. She retired from Fayetteville schools in 1970, and moved to Marcellus in 1983. Mrs. Fischer died 7-14-1994. They had: Vincent "Jerry" Fischer, Jr., who was born in August, 1940, attended LeMoyne College, and lives in Marcellus.
Vito F. Fiscoe and Thelma Neupert Fiscoe lived at 217 Wellington Rd. by 1942, and at 20 Paddock Dr. by 1953. Mr. Fiscoe was a self-employed home builder, operating as the Fiscoe Development Co. He was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and a former president of the Syracuse Home Builders Association. Mrs. Fiscoe was born 4-3-1919, in Fabius, NY. She worked as a ward clerk at Van Duyn Home and Hospital for many years before her retirement in 1984. She was a past president of the Altar and Rosary Society, and the founder of the school lunch program at Holy Cross Church. Mrs. Fiscoe's mother, Sophie Olive Fields Neupert, lived with the family for a period. Mrs. Neupert was born on 2-15-1885, and died in August, 1970. Mr. and Mrs. Fiscoe resided in E. Syracuse at his death on 1-4-1987, and at her death on 7-23-2006. Their children: Thomas Fiscoe, of Camillus, Rosemary Fiscoe, who wed Edward Coolican, and lives in DeWitt, and Susan Fiscoe, of Modesto, CA.
Mildred Andrews Everson Fisher lived at 209 Cornwall Dr. by 1930. Mrs. Fisher was born in 1882, and was the widow of George Fisher, who died prior to 1930. Mrs. Fisher had been married earlier to a Mr. Everson. She worked as the proprietor of the Red and White grocery store. From her earlier marriage she had: James H. Everson, who was born about 1912, married Doris Crandall on 6-15-1940, and also worked at the family grocery store, and Marien Elizabeth Everson, who was born about 1917, worked as a stenographer for the Syracuse Rendering Co., and married John Steimle, of Union, NJ, in 1949.
James R. FitzGerald and Margaret Meaney FitzGerald lived at 201 Miles Ave. in Lyndon by 1942. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1917, and was a claims lawyer for 30 years with the Empire Mutual Insurance Co. The couple moved to 131 Orvilton Dr., and were living there at his death on 12-2-1965.
Neil Fitzpatrick and Margaret Virginia Herring Fitzpatrick lived at 4300 Genesee St. by 1953, and by 1956, were living at 200 Churchill Lane in Fayetteville. Mr. Fitzpatrick was born on 11-27-1910, in Englewood, NJ, and was a sales representative for Varco, Inc., and later for Cooley Business Forms, He retired as the general manager of Cooley's CNY operations. Mr. Fitzpatrick was the president of the DeWitt Kiwanis club. He died on 6-8-1984. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was born on 4-15-1912, in Hackensack, NJ, and was active in volunteer causes. She died on 1-4-1992, while still residing on Churchill Lane.
Eugene John Fleischer and Eunice Vanderpool Fleischer lived at 103 Lynbrook Circle, following their marriage in 1949. Mr. Fleischer was a native of Cleveland, OH, and was born 5-20-1911. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. Mr. Fleischer moved to the Syracuse area in 1935. He worked in the production control department of the Brown-Lipe-Chapin Co., and retired in 1960. The couple moved to FL in 1980. Mrs. Fleischer died in March, 1984, while living in Zephyrhills, and Mr. Fleischer died 11-24-1988, while residing in Clearwater.
Wesley H. Fleming and Adaline Newman Fleming lived at 204 Pelham Rd. by 1940, and at 109 East Genesee St. in Fayetteville by 1945. Mr. Fleming was born on 1-18-1888, and was a cashier for the Travelers Insurance Co. with offices in the State Tower building in Syracuse. Later he opened the Fleming Insurance Agency. Mrs. Fleming was born on 8-3-1895, in Brooklyn, and the couple wed about 1917. They still resided in Fayetteville at Mr. Fleming's death in March, 1973. Mrs. Fleming then moved to Cazenovia and resided there until her death on 11-28-1990. She was 95. Their children: Malcolm N. Fleming, Sr., who was born about 1919, was an officer in the Army Air Corps during WWII, graduated from Syracuse University's College of Law, wed Margaret Raffl, and was an attorney for the village of Manlius, where he lived before his death on 7-29-1992, John W. Fleming, who was born about 1922, served in the Signal Corps in the ETO in WWII, worked for the Proctor and Gamble Co., and died in 1981, and Nancy Fleming Miller, who lived in Cazenovia.
Frank H. Floring and Ina Shane Floring lived at 204 Newfield Rd. by 1940. Mr. Floring was born 2-20-1890, and was a salesman for the Brunswick, Balke, Collender Co. Mrs. Floring was born on 1-13-1890, and the couple married about 1913. She died in April, 1980. They had: Charles W. Floring, who was born about 1916, served in the USN during WWII, and worked as an electrical engineer in OK, and Ruth Ina Floring, who was born about 1921, wed Carl Vincent Ladd on 5-8-1954, and lived in Syracuse before her death on 11-17-1981.
